Cancun, Q.R. — Three people were arrested Tuesday after shooting at police officers investigating a murder. The officers were shot at when they arrived at an apartment in SM 107 to carry out a search.

Police said the two men and one woman from inside the apartment were taken into custody and their weapon seized.
“The State Attorney General reports that in a coordinated action with members of the Interinstitutional Group, three people, two men and one woman, were arrested after an attack with a firearm against investigation members in Superblock 107,” they reported.
“During the intervention, a firearm was seized, which was placed under the custody of this Public Prosecutor’s Office as part of the evidence that will be analyzed within the corresponding investigation file.”
Police said the incident happened during an investigation related to a homicide. The attack happened Tuesday afternoon when investigating officers arrived at an address on Laguna Nopalitos Street. Officers were at the home to carry out a search related an October 9 murder.
Three people from inside the apartment began shooting at officers who arrived to conduct the search. Local media have reported one officer was shot in the leg during the attack, however, authorities said “it is important to clarify that during this investigation related to a homicide, there were no deaths or injuries.”
The names of those arrested and their association with the murder investigation has not been made public.
