Three out-of-state males in custody for CFE theft and impersonation

Cancun, Q.R. — Three men accused of impersonating federal CFE officials and then stealing material were arrested in Cancun. In joint action between National Guard, the State Attorney General’s Office and the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit (SMSCyT) of Benito Juárez, the three men were taken into custody after being caught with material belonging to the CFE and fake Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) uniforms.

The operation was carried out after receiving a report from 9-1-1 alerting authorities to suspicious uniformed individuals in SM 77. Upon arriving at the scene, officers located the three individuals aboard a white Nissan Versa where they found several bags containing copper material.

When asked for documentation proving their status as CFE employees as well as invoices proving their legal possession of the material, the men were unable to provide the necessary documents.
