Tulum, Q.R. — Three people were left with serious injuries after a head on collision near Cenote Actun Ha. The two car crash happened Thursday afternoon on a section of Coba roadway in the municipality of Tulum.
According to the preliminary report, the driver of a Chevrolet Aveo crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a white Nissan Versa. Three ambulances responded to motorist reports of the afternoon collision. All three were transferred to Playa del Carmen hospitals.
Tulum firemen assisted in the removal of the car’s occupants and subsequent cleanup of road debris. Civil Protection and Municipal Traffic were also at the scene of the accident. Two tow trucks were brought in to remove the totaled cars from the public highway.
The road was partially closed while emergency services worked to clear the way. Authorities did not provide a cause for the two vehicle crash that sent three to hospital.
