Three detained in recent death of Tulum union leader

Tulum, Q.R. — The General Prosecutor’s Office says they are moving forward with investigations into the recent death of a Tulum union leader.

La Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) reports that after complying with two search warrants, a vehicle, drugs, weapons and one building were seized, while three people were arrested. The FGE says the search warrants resulted in the confiscation of numerous items including a grenade.

Their report says that there are three people in detention who are under investigation for their alleged knowledge and/or participation in the crime. The three were arrested without incident after being stopped along the Tulum highway. They add that agents of the Ministerio Público, accompanied by Servicios Periciales, continue to collect evidence.

Police are investigating the recent death of Marco Tulio Sansores Medrano who was a union leader for la Comisión de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado (CAPA). His body was found Friday morning on a dirt road off the highway at Puerto Aventuras.
