Three dead, at least 1 injured in high-impact Tulum highway accident

Tulum, Q.R. — UPDATED: A two-vehicle accident near the town of Tulum has reportedly left three people dead and at least one injured.

The high-impact collision happened approximately six kilometers from Tulum along the highway heading toward Felipe Carrillo after Cenote Dos Osos. Preliminary information reported numerous firefighters and rescue officials attended the site.

Details of the accident have not yet been released, only that the collision occurred between a Tsuru and Aveo.

Paramedics were on site while they waited for the arrival of the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) for the removal of bodies.

UPDATE: New information revealed that two of the deceased were women. Witnesses of the accident reported one of the cars speeding, causing it to invade the oncoming lane. That lane invasion led to the head-on crash of the two vehicles. The identities of those involved in the accident have not been released.
