Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A taxi driver who worked for the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río union was found dead on a sidewalk in the Misión del Carmen subdivision of Playa del Carmen.
The deceased man was seen by neighbors around 8:00 a.m. Friday. Preliminary reports say the man, identified as 31-year-old Pedro N, was hit in the head with a solid object, killing him.
Witnesses say the man was approached from behind by two others who, after hitting him, fled the area.
Medical personnel arrived to confirm the deceased. Police also arrived to tape off the scene and begin their investigation. There were no arrests. This was the first murder of the year in Playa del Carmen.
