Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — National Guard were first on the scene Tuesday in a single vehicle accident in north PDC. A pickup truck pulling a uncovered trailer rolled off the highway while taking a corner.
The accident was reported to authorities by motorists Tuesday morning near Punta Maroma.
The driver was towing his trailer of welding materials when, according to him, it began to sway while taking the curve.
According to the driver, as he rounded the corner, the trailer became unbalanced and started to sway, causing him to lose control. The trailer swayed off the highway, forcing the truck to go with it.
Both vehicles landed in a bean field. Several fence posts from the private property were knocked down by the vehicles as they plowed through the farmland. The trailer landed overturned.
There were no injuries reported, only material damage to the owner of the pickup truck and the farmer. Highway traffic was slowed for less than 20 minutes while a tow truck removed the pickup and trailer from the field.
