Suspicious exchange, shots fired at police lands 4 in Tulum jail

Tulum, Q.R. — On Sunday, police were successful in capturing four people, two of whom fired at police when trying to escape.

The incident happened around 4:20 p.m. in the Las Palmas subdivision when patrolling police noticed four people on board two motorcycles in a suspicious bag exchange. Two men from one of the involved motorcycles began to fire at police when they notice their presence. The shooter was successful at hitting the police unit, taking out the front left headlight.

Tulum police requested backup as the four ran inside a house. Upon entering and inspecting, police found a 9 mm caliber firearm and bags of marijuana. Police proceeded to secure the place and arrest the four.
