Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — A man who is accused of attempting to kill his former girlfriend with an axe has been ordered to remain jailed. A Chetumal judge has ordered Raúl “N” to remain imprisoned during his trial on charges of attempted femicide.
According to a report by local authorities, Raúl “N” is being investigated for an incident that occurred on July 21 of this year when the victim, with whom he had a six-year relationship and share a daughter, was threatened with an axe.
Police say the victim reported violence against her throughout their relationship, “but the situation escalated on the aforementioned day when he told her he would kill her, attempting to strangle her and then took her from her mother’s house and tried to force her onto a motorcycle.
“When she refused to get on, the man pulled out an axe and tried to injure her several times, but he failed.”

She was helped by police officers and the man arrested. On Wednesday, a judge agreed to a trial of attempted femicide and ordered Raúl “N” to remain in jail.
