Cancun, Q.R. — A suspect reported for firing a weapon in a residential area of Cancun has been identified. Police say 43 year old José de Jesús “N” was arrested Monday for drug and firearm offences.
His arrest took place early Monday morning after a 6:00 a.m. residential report of shots fired. In an earlier statement Monday, police said responding officers located the suspect firing his weapon on Labná Avenue, however, they did not say what he was shooting at.
On Tuesday, police said officers from the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit (SMSCyT) arrested José de Jesús “N” “for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking, specifically small-scale drug dealing, and illegal possession of a firearm.”

They reported that “officers observed the suspect wearing a backpack and appearing to be lost in thought. Given the circumstances, he was instructed to drop the backpack, which he did.”
During his arrest, police found marijuana and a handgun with four live rounds, two additional magazines, and sixteen additional 9mm rounds.
