Tulum, Q.R. — Four males police say are members of the CJNG cartel were arrested in Tulum yesterday. Their arrests stem from a weekend operation involving different agencies along 14th Street South.
Police said during the arrests they seized firearms, drug-like substances, communication radios and tactical equipment. “One of the detainees attempted to shoot at the officers, so he was neutralized and received medical attention,” they reported.

The operation took place took place Sunday in the La Veleta neighborhood of Tulum. Police said during the operation, “a fourth person was neutralized after attempting to attack the participating agents with a firearm.”
At the scene, Mario “N”, Ángel Francisco “N” and José Lorenzo “N” were arrested. During the arrests, officers found marijuana, crystal meth, a firearm, tactical equipment and communication radios.

“Donovan Miguel “N” was also apprehended,” police said. “He was carrying a 9mm pistol, several doses of suspected narcotics, a tactical vest and a portable radio. During his arrest, he attempted to attack the officers with the firearm and was subdued using legitimate force.
“He sustained a shoulder injury and subsequently received medical attention and is reported to be out of danger.
“According to initial investigations, the detainees are allegedly members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, a criminal group that generates violence and is dedicated to the distribution of narcotics in the coastal area of Tulum,” the FGE reported.
On Monday, police announced the arrests of the four cartel members. They also said “regarding the video circulating on social media which shows armed personnel alongside members of security institutions, this Secretariat reports the following:
“This video corresponds to an inter-institutional operation carried out by this Secretariat in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office with the objective of locating a point of sale and distribution of narcotics.

“As a result of these actions, arrests were made and illicit items were seized. With operations like this, the institutions reiterate their commitment to maintaining a safe and just Tulum, always working for the peace of mind of the citizens.
“We urge the public to remain calm, avoid spreading false information or speculation, and stay informed only through official channels.” the Tulum Secretariat of Public Security and Citizen Protection clarified.
As a result of coordinated efforts within the Tulum Shield strategy, agents from this Secretariat, in collaboration with Criminal Investigation Agents and the Secretariat of National Defense, arrested four individuals responsible for generating violence.
In custody are 23 year old Donovan Miguel “N”, alias Donovan. Mario “N”, alias El Chavez, 43, Ángel Francisco “N”, 20 and José Lorenzo “N”, 23 are also in custody.

The detainees and the seized items were turned over to the State Attorney General’s Office for their alleged involvement in drug related crimes and the possession, manufacture, importation and stockpiling of prohibited weapons.
“With these actions, we reaffirm our commitment to the law-abiding citizens of Tulum. We remain steadfast and united for a safe and peaceful Tulum,” the SSC of Tulum said.
