Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The State Attorney General’s Office reports obtaining an indictment against Alejandro “N” for aggravated extortion. Alejandro “N” is accused of demanding 30,000 pesos a week from his victim with the threat of death.
According to the investigation, since July of this year, the accused allegedly threatened the victim via social media, telephone and in person, demanding 30,000 pesos per week for protection money.
If the victim did not comply, he was warned that he would be killed. Police said months later, the intimidation was repeated by another individual, who left a bullet as an additional threat.
Following a complaint, an investigation was started and an arrest warrant eventually requested. Investigative Police took Alejandro “N” into custody from the streets of the Misión Villamar subdivision of Playa del Carmen.
During his initial hearing, Alejandro “N” was charged “for his probable participation in the crime of aggravated extortion,” police said, in addition to preventive detention for the duration of his trial.
