Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man accused of molesting a three year old girl has been ordered to remain jailed. A judge has ordered Carlos Atanasio “N” to remain in custody during his trial for sexual abuse.
On Wednesday, the State Attorney General (FGE) through the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Sexual Offenses, reported that Carlos Atanasio “N” is facing charges “for his probable participation in acts possibly constituting the crime of sexual abuse committed against a three-year-old child.”
In a statement, the FGE said “the events that led to the investigation occurred between April 10 and 20 of this year inside a home located in the La Joya residential area of Playa del Carmen.
“According to the initial investigation, the accused allegedly sexually assaulted the victim while they were alone in the home, resulting in behavioral changes and emotional distress for the child.
“During the hearing, the judicial authority decided to impose the precautionary measure of preventive detention on the accused, ordering his entry into the Municipal Detention Center.”
He is to remain jailed for the duration of his legal process.
