Stolen vehicle, drugs give Cancun police reason to arrest four

Cancun, Q.R. — During a police investigation of a stolen vehicle, four people were detained after being found in possession of drugs.

Police say the arrest of the four occurred when they were stopped while traveling aboard a Jeep with Quintana Roo license plates at an intersection with José López Portillo Avenue. The Jeep had been reported as stolen. When police spotted the vehicle, the driver was requested to pull over. Ministerial Police say once stopped, the driver was nervous at the presence of authorities.

During a review of the vehicle, agents confirmed the Jeep had an outstanding theft report. They also confirmed the presence of marijuana, which lead to the arrests of Jesus, Henry, Maria and Sugeydi.

The Jeep and drugs were seized and the detainees made available to the Public Ministry for the corresponding procedures.
