Tulum, Q.R. — The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection of Tulum says they worked with state authorities on the recent arrest of three Tulum officers. Captain José Roberto Rodríguez Bautista says his municipal department collaborated with the State Attorney General’s Office in the investigation of the three agents that lead to their arrests.
Rodríguez Bautista said the agency worked on the investigation by providing the Public Ministry with the information and documents required in compliance with Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo’s directive of zero tolerance for corruption and illegal acts by members of the corporation.
He said that the investigation resulted in the execution of three arrest warrants against the three officers who have since been charged with expressed kidnapping. He detailed that the three Tulum officers were arrested 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Municipal Police facilities.
Captain Rodríguez Bautista said there is no knowledge of other officers being involved in kidnapping and extortion of a local citizen, adding that information was requested only for the three agents who were arrested.

He stressed that Mayor Diego Castañón has given instructions since the beginning of his administration, which is to have zero tolerance for acts of corruption or bad practices by Tulum police officers.
