Tulum, Q.R. — Speeding and lack of caution are said causes a severe traffic accident Saturday morning along the Playa del Carmen-Tulum federal highway. The two-van crash left several injured.
According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred at 7:40 a.m. on the federal highway after the driver of a collective service van hit a parked tourist van. The combi was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed when he made contact with vehicle that was parked along the highway shoulder.
Due to the impact, several passengers were injured. The driver of the combi was also injured after rolling his van, which landed on its side.
Paramedics arrived at the scene to assess and transfer the injured to hospital. Elements of the fire brigade and the National Guard also arrived to deal with moving traffic while police dealt with the accident scene.
