Seven from Tulum criminal group jailed on drug charges

Tulum, Q.R. — A group of seven with more than 250 street doses of narcotics were captured in Tulum early Friday. The group are said to belong to a criminal gang called Los Compich.

The three women and four men were removed from the irregular colony of 2 de octubre during a police operation. Those taken into custody ranged in ages from 20 to 41. Four of them were from the state of Tabasco, while the other three were from the states of Chiapas, Veracruz and Quintana Roo.

This latest group of arrests is only one of several authorities have made to clear Tulum areas of drug dealers. On June 18, police detained five alleged drug dealers from the coastal area. On June 20, another police operation lead to the arrest of 11 more, also from the Tulum coastal area.
