Tulum, Q.R. — Weapons and vehicles used by criminal group Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) were reported seized. The seizure was made during an operation in the town of Nuevo Durango in the municipality of Tulum.

On Monday, authorities elaborated on the operation that lead to the seizure of a total of nine vehicles, guns and ammo used by the cartel. Deputy prosecutor for the southern zone, Aroshi de los Ángeles Lugo Arana, said the arsenal seized included an AK-47 rifle, chargers, bags of ammunition, two grenades, a communication radio and bags of narcotics.
According to Lugo Arana, two of the nine vehicles seized were located on a ranch in Nuevo Durango. The seized vehicles, one of which was an armored vehicle, are believed to have been used for various illegal activities in the municipality.
She reported inside one of the cars, police located a notebook bearing the “Tulum CJNG” (Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación) logo along with pages of handwritten notes confirming the group’s presence and operations in the area.
Authorities reported Monday that the trucks were used for drug and firearms trafficking, as well as kidnappings and surveillance patrols to control Tulum territory.
