Security heightened along Tulum beaches and archaeological zone for holiday season

Tulum, Q.R. — A security tour of Tulum beaches and the archaeological zone took place over the weekend with the start of Easter. As thousands of visitors arrive for the holidays, Tulum City Council saw a reconnaissance operation carried out in busy areas.

According to authorities, the objective of the tour was to locate the strategic places of prevention and security that will be implemented during the vacation period.

After the weekend tour, heightened security will be noticed in these areas as of April 11, when, according to municipal authorities, surveillance tours will start.

Agencies including Municipal Civil Protection, Tulum Public Security, Quintana Roo Police, Mexican Navy, the Mexican Army and the National Guard will participate in ensuring safety in the municipality.

The region is anticipating another 1.1 million tourists from now until April 24 due to the Easter holidays.
