Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — The driver of a semi who attempted to flee the scene was arrested near the site of the fatal accident. On Saturday evening, an adult male was hit by the semi in the community of Calderitas.
The man was driving a scooter when he was struck by the large truck. The accident happened Saturday evening near an intersection in the Proterritorio neighborhood of Calderitas.
According to available information, the driver of the semi failed to see the driver of the scooter as he tried to pass. In the process of passing, the scooter was hit by the semi and its driver, identified as Eliberto “A”, tossed under the truck’s wheels.
The driver of the semi made a run for it, leaving his unit behind, however, SSC police tracked him down a few blocks from the scene. He was arrested on Maxuxac Avenue in the same neighborhood as the accident.
Paramedics confirmed Eilberto “A” had died at the scene. Police have not said who was at fault for the fatal two vehicle collision.
