Cancun, Q.R. — A young taxi driver was found dead inside his Cancun cab late Tuesday night. Police and military personnel found the young man in his taxi after responding to resident reports of gunfire.
The cab was found parked in a heavily treed area of the Colonia México neighborhood late Tuesday night.
Police located the parked cab on Independencia Avenue, approximately 700 meters from José López Portillo Avenue.
Inside, police found the driver dead and slumped on the floor behind the driver’s seat.
He had been shot several times.
According to preliminary reports, residents heard multiple gunshots and called 9-1-1. They reported seeing two people on a motorcycle approach the cab and start shooting before speeding off.
Authorities have not commented on the name of the victim or a possible motive.
