Playa del Carmen. Q.R. — Repair work on Avenida 115 of Playa del Carmen will result in a newly paved roadway, but will take two months to complete says the director of Urban Development.
José Luis Antonio Terrazas Lara, director of Infrastructure and Urban Development for Solidaridad explained that the work, which has just begun, will be completed in sections since it is one of the busiest avenues in the city.
He says the last thing they want to do is completely close the roads for repair, so completing it in sections will see the roadways remain open to traffic during the two-month repaving project for this particular section.
Terrazas Lara says that the repair of Avenida 115 is part of the 53 projects the city has slated to complete over the next three years with a cost of around 400 million peso. The repair and repaving of 115 is the first of the projects.
“The 115 is a very damaged avenue and it is very important because it is used as a circuit. There is also heavy transports that use the roadway, so the measure was taken to repair the damaged sections of that avenue because it is very long. There is a lot of investment. The intent is to have it done little by little, this year a part, in 2020 another part and in 2021 one more,” he explained.
The cost of this first stage is about 9 million peso, which is expected to cover 800 meters of roadway and is estimated to last about 60 days.
Other work being done include that of Colosio. He says that road work on Tenth Avenue starts next week, and are also part of the 53 repair projects set by the city.
