Real estate developer accused of Tulum pre-sale fraud arrested in Nuevo León

Tulum, Q.R. — A real estate developer pre-selling a high end project in Tulum has been arrested in the state of Nuevo León. According to media reports, Juan Manuel “N” was taken into custody in San Pedro Garza García in relation to a 57 million peso fraud investigation.

The investigation was started after a businessman, who bought into the pre-sale, lost 57 million pesos and filed a legal complaint. The businessman, who has not been publicly named, bought into the luxury real estate development in Tulum back in 2019.

After committing finances, the businessman found irregularities in the deal, realizing he was the victim of fraud. He filed a legal complaint against 52 year old Juan Manuel “N”, who has been arrested.

According to the investigation by the Attorney General’s Office of Nuevo León, the victim reported that on July 1, 2019 , he entered into a purchase agreement with Juan Manuel “N”, contributing approximately 57 million pesos to acquire a property within an exclusive real estate development in Tulum.

Over time, the businessman detected alleged irregularities in the operation and concluded that he had been the victim of fraud, which led to an investigation and subsequent arrest.

Juan Manuel “N” was taken into custody while walking a street in San Gedro Garza. He has since been admitted into the Social Reintegration Center of Apodaca.
