Tulum, Q.R. — Poor road conditions due to heavy rain is the likely cause of a deadly highway accident Tuesday. Firemen from Tulum were called to the scene of a two vehicle accident that happened outside the town’s subdivision of Chan Chemuyil Tuesday night.
One person from inside a private car required the jaws of life to be freed. A second person inside the car was pronounced dead by responding paramedics. The accident happened on a stretch of municipal highway near the entrance to the Chan Chemuyil subdivision when a gray Volkswagen Jetta slammed into the back of a dump truck.
The large unit was parked on the shoulder of the highway at the time of the accident. The road was partially shut for several hours due to the severity of the crash. Municipal police continue to investigate. The name of the deceased has not been released.
