Tulum, Q.R. — Land access to the Punta Allen community was limited when it was announced that the road was partially closed. Only people on foot and small units are able to pass. In a message through social networks, the state Civil Protection Coordination announced that the Paso Lagarto section was left in poor condition after the passage of Tropical Storm Gamma.
“Citizens are asked to avoid driving with cars between the highway from the hotel zone from Tulum to Punta Allen, since the section from Paso Lagarto was washed away by the tropical storm Gamma. You can only travel on foot, on motorcycles or ATVs,” said the agency in a message.
Just this weekend, the evacuation of the Punta Allen community was ordered and only a few people remained in the area where flooding and strong winds were reported. Around 4:00 p.m. Saturday, personnel from the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA) made a tour between Tulum and the Mayan area to determine the situation caused by the tropical storm.
