Police take heavily armed Tulum man into custody

Tulum, Q.R. — A heavily armed man was arrested in the municipality of Tulum Monday after police found drugs and guns. Gustavo Ángel “N” was stopped in the town of Macario Gómez and inspected by police from where he was subsequently taken into custody.

During his inspection, he was found in possession of “numerous doses of marijuana” and two loaded weapons. In a statement, police said he was arrested and remains in custody to face charges.

“The State Attorney General’s Office, through elements of the Investigative Police, arrested a male person in flagrante delicto for his alleged involvement in events that could constitute drug dealing and violation of the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives.”

He was arrested in the town of Macario Gómez in the municipality of Tulum.

“The detainee identified himself as Gustavo Ángel “N” who, during an inspection after being stopped, was found with numerous doses of green dry grass with characteristics similar to marijuana.

“Among his belongings he also had a .380 mm caliber squad-type weapon and two magazines loaded with the same caliber and a .223-caliber AM-15 long-barreled weapon with two loaded magazines. This person did not have a license for either weapon.”

Gustavo Ángel “N” was placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office to face charges.
