Tulum, Q.R. — Police are investigating the death of a man found on the side of the Tulum highway. An area resident out picking cans Sunday stumbled upon the body.
Municipal police arrived to confirm the 2:00 p.m. finding, which turned out to be the body of an adult male. Paramedics were called but confirmed the man was dead.
His body was located on the side of the highway north of the town near the Caleta Tankah area. According to first reports, it is believed man was walking along the shoulder when a vehicle hit him and fled, leaving the victim abandoned at the scene.
After paramedics confirmed the man was dead, State Police cordoned off the area where Investigative Police and Forensic Services arrived to collect information and carry out the removal of the body.
The victim has not yet been identified. Authorities are working to gather evidence and testimonies to determine exactly what happened locate the person responsible.
