Police nab armed drug dealers from Cancun street

Cancun, Q.R. — Three people police say were armed in Cancun were taken into custody for drug and firearm offences. On Friday, authorities reported on the arrests of José Ángel “N”, William Roberto “N”, and Neyfy Yosellin “N” near Punta Sam.

The group of three were initially stopped on suspicion of drug dealing, however, they are now facing additional firearm charges. During their arrests, police located a loaded handgun.

“José Ángel “N”, William Roberto “N”, and Neyfy Yosellin “N” were arrested for alleged involvement in drug trafficking and violations of the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives,” the SSC (Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana) said in a statement.

Members of the Centurion Group of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) participated in the arrest in coordination with the Secretariat of the Navy, the Secretariat of National Defense and National Guard.

“The events occurred on the highway to Punta Sam at the intersection with San José Street, Puerto Juárez outside the city of Cancun, where authorities observed a group of people exchanging several small, transparent plastic bags containing a green, leafy substance resembling marijuana,” they said.

During the inspection, arresting officers recovered a backpack with street-ready doses of marijuana, crystal methamphetamine and both powered and crack cocaine as well as cash, cell phones and a handgun with ammunition.
