Tulum, Q.R. — Two men remain in hospital after being hit by a cement truck while traveling the Tulum highway on a motorcycle. The accident was reported to police Tuesday after motorists watched as the bike skid down the highway and the driver of the truck kept going.
Both men were knocked off the motorcycle during the accident Tuesday morning leaving one with a broken leg and the other with a severe head injury. He is reported to be in critical condition.
The driver of the cement truck alleged responsible for the accident failed to stop at the scene. Motorists who called in the accident to police also reported that the cement truck driver kept going.
Police were able to locate the truck, finding it several kilometers down the highway past the scene of the accident. The vehicle was stopped and the driver arrested. An investigation into the official cause of the hit and run is underway.
