Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Civil Protection are part of an investigation into a late night accident that left one person dead. A man reported “bleeding profusely” was found on a central beach around 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

He was found laying on the beach by a group who had rented a boat to watch weekend fireworks from the water. His body was found laying in the sand at CTM Avenue and 48th Street by emergency responders.
According to early information, he was found alive when the 9-1-1 report was made but died on the beach. Preliminary reports say he was involved in a collision with another boat at sea.
The identity of the second boat involved in the accident is unknown. It is not clear if the man was in the water or on another vessel at the time of the accident.
Civil Protection personnel responded to the initial report of a water accident in which a person was injured.
The victim is reported to be a local fisherman who was found with severe leg and groin injuries that resulted in significant bleeding.

Others who found him tried to help, however, he died. Municipal police cordoned off the area while forensics removed the body. Local authorities are continuing their investigation into what happened.
