Police follow injured man to hospital where they make arrest in Tulum coffee shop murder

Tulum, Q.R. — UPDATED: One male has been taken into police custody for the deadly shooting of a coffee shop patron. On Tuesday, the Secretary of Public Security of Quintana Roo reported on the detainment of Luis “N”.

In their statement, the agency said that outside the coffee shop Tulum police “observed that the Malibu vehicle was leaving the area, (they) began a pursuit until they reached a private hospital in the municipality.

“Upon arrival at the hospital, the agents observed that a stretcher was entering with a person who had injuries from a firearm.

“The agents requested identification of the subject who said his name was Luis “N”, who was immediately notified of the accusation against him for his alleged participation in the crime of homicide and attempted homicide, for which he was detained and under respective custody.”

Luis “N” is believed responsible for the murder of a man and attempted murder of a second man after a Monday afternoon shooting inside a Tulum coffee shop. The two men were shot during an attempted robbery of a watch.

One of the men, Carlos “N”, a business partner of the now-deceased, was shot by the robber but managed to shoot back, injuring him.

UPDATE: The alleged gunman responsible for the fatal shooting inside a Tulum coffee shop Tuesday has reportedly died. Luis “N”, 25, was detained under guard by police Tuesday after he was found hospitalized for a bullet wound.

He died of his injuries Wednesday morning after being shot by a second person, Carlos “N”, during the coffee shop robbery.
