Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — An employee of a party favor company was shot and killed Monday night over a dispute. The dispute arose between the company staff member and the customer who refused to pay the price to rent an inflatable children’s ride.
During the heated argument, the customer is alleged to have pulled out a gun and shot the employee in the face. He was found laying dead in the middle of the residential street.
Police were notified of the shooting around 8:30 p.m. in La Guadalupana after other area residents heard the pair arguing before seeing the gun go off. Medical emergency personnel tried to help the male victim, however, his injury was severe and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was reportedly hit in the mouth at point blank range. The gunman fled on foot. Neighbors reported watching as he fled toward Xelha Avenue.
Municipal police began a search for the shooter. Authorities cordoned off both ends of the avenue, however, an arrest has not been announced.
According to available information, the victim rented a furniture and inflatable games for parties. He had been sent to deliver the hired party favors to the private home Monday night.
During the delivery, the customer allegedly disagreed with the price, refusing to allow him to unload the equipment. An argument ensued, escalating to the point where a gunshot was fired. The deceased has not been named.
