Playa del Carmen drug bust results in arrest of eight

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Quintana Roo police have apprehended eight people found with drugs and weapons in central Playa del Carmen.

While conducting security and surveillance tours along Fifth Avenue, police noticed a man carrying a firearm. When the man saw police, he quickly left the area, however, police followed him and were led to seven others, all of whom were eventually arrested.

The eight were taken into police custody after a search revealed a 9 mm Smith & Wesson and cartridges along with a variety of drugs that included 20 plastic bags of cocaine, 28 sachets of crystal, 14 sachets of ecstasy, four sachets of LSD, 58 sachets of crack and 150 sachets of marijuana.

In custody are Luis Fernando N, José Manuel N, José Ángel N, Fernando N, Isabelino N, Daniel N, Adrián N and one minor.
