Playa del Carmen club shut and workers detained in relation to murder of four city employees

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A centrally located Playa del Carmen club was shut down early Sunday by authorities. Police arrived at the 24th Street establishment during an investigation into the deaths of four municipal employees the day before.

According to early information, the club was closed after a police investigation lead them to believe it to be the place where the four murders happened.

Elements of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the Solidaridad Municipal Police and military agents arrived to empty the facilities and shut it down. In the process, more than a dozen workers from inside were reportedly detained.

The closure is in response to the murder of four of the municipality’s city workers who were found dead in the bed of a pickup truck early Saturday morning.

The four victims have been identified as Leonardo “G”, Daniel “G”, Iván “B” and Darwin “F”, all of whom were reported found with cut throats. It is believed they were abducted before being taken to the now-closed club where they were killed then moved again to the bed of the parked pickup truck in the Ejido residential area of Playa del Carmen where they were found Saturday morning.
