Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — Two people were killed early Tuesday morning when their pickup hit a cargo truck. The accident happened at the junction to the community of Álvaro Obregón in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco.
The driver of the pickup was traveling near the area of Mi Finquita when it slammed into a cargo truck. Both people from inside the white pickup were killed.
One of the people from inside the pickup, the passenger, was decapitated during impact against the cargo truck.
Members of the National Emergency Commission and authorities from security corporations arrived to cordon off the area.
The fatal traffic accident was reported around 6:30 a.m. A man and woman were inside the truck when it hit the sugarcane cargo vehicle. The white pickup belonged to the local Democratic Farmers Union.
Traffic was disrupted for several hours while forensic work was carried out. The identities of the victims has not been released.
Excessive speed and a lack of caution have been the said causes of the accident. Police are also looking into the possibility that the cargo truck was traveling without lights.
