Paramedics treat seven in combi highway roll

Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — Seven people were treated for injuries Friday after a passenger van overturned on the Chetumal-Javier Rojo Gómez route. The accident occurred during the afternoon run along the Chetumal-Escárcega federal highway.

According to reportes, mechanical failure has been blamed for the single vehicle accident.

The passenger combi, which is from SUCHAA of Chetumal, was heading toward Javier Rojo Gómez when a tire burst. Emergency services were requested at the scene of the rollover between the towns of Juan Sarabia and Ucum.

Passing motorists stopped to help those stuck inside the van. It was located laying on its right side. Paramedics from the Urban Rescue Group treated the injured at the scene before transferring them to hospital.

Elements of the National Guard Roads Division were responsible for the corresponding procedures. The van was towed to the impound.
