Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Municipal police restricted park access Sunday after confirming a dead body. Residents in central Playa del Carmen made the report Sunday morning.

The area around the scene in the city’s central Leona Vicario park was sectioned off by police while they waited for the coroner. The body, reported to be of a man, was found laying on a piece of cardboard on the ground.
Area neighbors saw him laying beside the park bench Sunday morning around 9:30. When they went to wake him, he failed to respond, so they called police.
He was found unresponsive by police and confirmed dead by paramedics. The man was found in the park between 15th Street and 20th Avenue in Playa del Carmen.
Neighbors reported him to have been a known homeless man in the area. According to police, the man did not appear to have any visible physical cuts or bruises and is believed to have died from natural causes.
