Tulum, Q.R. — A man and woman were arrested for the stabbing of a Tulum taxi driver Thursday morning. The pair were detained by police after the report of an attempted robbery.

According to early information, the unidentified taxi driver was stabbed in the chest when he resisted his passengers trying to rob him. The pair, armed with a knife, demanded his cash when they reached their stop on Petcacab Street at around 6:30 a.m.

When the taxi driver refused, one of the two passengers stabbed him in the chest. Both attempted to make a run for it, but they were stopped by nearby witnesses and eventually arrested by police.

The taxi driver, whose identity has not been released, was admitted to the Chetumal General Hospital where he was reported in serious condition.
