One woman arrested in central Tulum shooting that resulted in an injured tourist

Tulum, Q.R. — One person has been arrested for the central Tulum shooting Monday that left a woman with injuries. The shooting happened in a bar located in the downtown area of Tulum after two people allegedly arrived in a car and opened fire.

During the attack against the bar, a woman, a tourist from Spain, was injured. She was rushed to a Playa del Carmen hospital Monday night and discharged Tuesday. In a brief statement from the FGE, they reported that an investigation into the shooting was opened that resulted in the arrest of one.

The agency said they “started an investigation related to the events that occurred in a bar located in the downtown area of Tulum where detonations produced by firearms were recorded; a female of foreign origin was injured so she was transferred to a hospital for her medical care. She has already been discharged. At the moment there is a detainee and her probable participation in this event is being investigated.”

Their investigation has revealed a 9-millimeter caliber pistol, several bags of marijuana and cocaine. The identity of the tourist and the woman arrested have not been released.
