One killed and three hospitalized in Tulum bar shooting

Tulum, Q.R. — One person has been killed and three hospitalized after a downtown bar shooting in Tulum. Early Wednesday morning, police were requested at the Tulum Boulevard bar location after reports of gunfire.

The four people hit by bullets are reported to have all been customers and all men, however, authorities have not provided details if they were local customers or tourists.

According to information gathered, the men ranged in ages from 25 to 30.

“There was one dead and three injured, all male and indicate that clients are involved among the injured, 30 to 25 years old,” one officer said.

On Wednesday morning, gunshots rang out inside the Tulum establishment. Police and paramedics were at the scene where ambulances rushed the three injured to hospital. Authorities have not identified the deceased or any of the injured, nor have they given a possible motive for the deadly attack, but they did say four people have been detained.

Regarding the shooting, late Wednesday, the State Attorney of Quintana Roo posted “as a result of making four people available to the Public Ministry, an investigation was opened for their probable participation in the crime of qualified homicide that occurred in an establishment in the municipality of Tulum.”
