Tulum, Q.R. — One dead and at least four injured has been reported after a late night bar shooting in central Tulum. A man being chased by gunmen entered the bar for refuge late Monday night.
According to preliminary information, he was followed into the bar where the armed men opened fire. At least 10 shots were reported that left one person dead. The deceased has not been identified beyond being a man of around 35. It is not known if he was the man being chased.
The incident happened around 11:00 p.m. inside an establishment on Tulum Avenue between Centauro and Satélite. Bar staff were taken by surprise when they heard sudden bursts of gunfire before seeing a dead man laying on the floor. He had been shot several times in the head and chest.
An unofficial count reported four others inside the bar, two men and two women, were hit by bullets. One is reported to be in serious condition after receiving a bullet in the chest.
The State Attorney General (FGE) arrived at the scene to carry out the corresponding procedures while municipal authorities carried out a search operation for those responsible. Neither Tulum or state authorities have made any public comment regarding the Monday night shooting.
