One killed, 2 injured in Tulum broad daylight shooting

Tulum, Q.R. — A man was shot and killed in broad daylight Wednesday afternoon in the city of Tulum outside Plaza Andador. Two others were injured.

The shooting happened when two armed men attacked others inside the square. Upon their escape, they shot at three other men, killing one and injuring two. The deceased has been identified as Heber H.R., the driver for a Tulum city employee. The two injured men are Marco C.D. and Fernado P.A., both of whom were shot, receiving serious injuries.

Herber H.R. attempted to repel the attack, but was shot. He died on scene. The Tulum city employee, Jorge Portilla, released a statement on social media saying that contrary to some media reports, the attack was not against him, adding that he was not at the scene of the event.

Those responsible fled. No arrests have been made. Police continue to investigate.
