No injuries reported after Tulum hotel cabaña burns

Tulum, Q.R. — No injuries were reported in a Monday evening hotel fire in Tulum. Firemen arrived at Kilometer 8.2 of the Tulum-Boca Paila highway to dose flames that quickly spread to at least one cabin.

The fire, which broke out in the engine room of Casa Violeta, didn’t take long to engulf at least one of the hotel’s wood cabañas. Workers from the hotel, as well as others from nearby businesses, attempted to dose flames on their own while waiting for the fire department, but their efforts did not prove fruitful.

Firemen were quick to the scene and able to prevent the fire from spreading to other areas. Civil Protection also arrived to remove two 20-liter LP gas cylinders to prevent an explosion.

The hotel, which was hosting guests at the time of the fire, reported no injuries.
