Tulum, Q.R. — The majority of a Tulum restaurant was destroyed by an early morning blaze Tuesday. It was after midnight when emergency personnel were called to Beta Sur Street between Sol and Venus Oriente in response to a 9-1-1 report.
At the scene, Tulum firemen were tasked with extinguishing a roaring blaze that consumed nearly all of the establishment. Made of dry wood and palapa grass, the Xaman-ha Terraza restaurant went up in flames.
According to local reports, the restaurant had been shut for months but reopened to the public Monday evening. It was later that night when municipal firemen were called to the scene.
Local authorities have not reported any injuries in the fire. Civil Protection continues to work with Tulum firemen for the official cause.
