Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Emergency personnel responded to the report of a floating body off a central beach Thursday morning. The body of a man was seen floating in the sea near the PDC-Cozumel ferry terminal.
People walking the beach Thursday morning happened to notice the body in the water. One of them ran in to bring the man to shore.
Emergency 9-1-1 sent police in response to the report. Municipal authorities confirmed the report and the body of a man.
Marina and Civil Protection authorities were called along with medical personnel. Authorities from the scene reported the man is likely between the age of 30 and 35.
He was confirmed dead on the beach. Police also said he did not have any identification on him when they found him.
Due to a week of strong winds, authorities are working to find out who he is and where he came from.
