Mother dies after her and daughter hit by truck in Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — A woman has died and her daughter remains in serious condition after being hit by a truck in an area along Andres Quintana Roo Avenue in Cancun.

The deadly accident happened Monday afternoon around 4:00 p.m. when the the driver of a blue Ford Ranger lost control of the vehicle and mounted the central ridge, running over a woman and her daughter.

The minor was transferred to the IMSS clinic in Region 510 as an emergency, while her mother died at the scene. According to the traffic report, the driver, who was arrested, has been identified as 29-year-old Erick M.T., employed by the National Migration Institute (INM) in Cancun.

The two women were apparently in the center ridge of the street trying to cross the avenue when they were struck. The daughter remains in serious condition. Neither the identify of the mother or daughter has been released.
