Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — Two people were killed Thursday when their car collided with an industrial dump truck. The afternoon accident happened on a section of the Ucum-Escarcega highway approximately 30 kilometers west of the city of Chetumal.
Numerous emergency vehicles were sent to the scene of the two vehicle collision. Inside the car, medical personnel located a female driver and three-year-old girl in the front seats.
Both mother and daughter were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car has been identified only by her initials of A.L.G. Both were killed when their old-model car was crushed by the truck.
The accident happened outside the community of Sergio Butrón Casas in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco Thursday afternoon. According to local reports, the female driver was traveling behind the dump truck and passed it.
Her car was hit by it while re-entering the lane in front of the truck. The driver of the truck was not injured.
