Modest Tulum home consumed by early morning fire

Tulum, Q.R. — A modest wood and palapa roofed home burned to the ground Monday in Tulum. Local firemen were sent to the scene of the burning building in an irregular neighborhood after reports of flames.

According to first reports, the incident occurred at approximately 6 a.m. Monday on Kukulcán Street. Firefighters and Civil Protection arrived. The small 4 meter x 4 meter structure, which was a home, was completely burned.

The roof top palapa and all the contents from inside caught fire in the irregular neighborhood 2 de Octubre. Paramedics did not report any injured people. A cause for the fire is unknown.

This fire occurred a day after another in a barracks located in the irregular neighborhood Nassín in Tulum.
