Member of Tulum taxi union killed in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A member of the Tulum Taxi Workers’ Union was shot and killed in central Playa del Carmen Tuesday.

The murder happened in broad daylight at 2:30 p.m. when the victim, Carlos Alvallero Pantoja, was reportedly getting out of his car. The shooting occurred outside a strip mall of stores on Avenida 30 in Colonia Centro where Alvallero Pantoja was allegedly approached by a man who shot him at point-blank range.

The area was quickly surrounded by Municipal Police, however, those responsible for the shooting fled on a motorcycle without being caught. Medical personnel arrived only to pronounce him at the scene.
