Cancun, Q.R. — A man who was found trapped under a Cancun restaurant was rescued before being arrested. The incident happened Sunday morning on the shores of the Nichupté Lagoon when emergency services were made aware of a man stuck under a wooden pier.
Tourist Police were first on scene, requesting assistance from Cancun firemen when they learned the man became stuck trying to get away from a crocodile. It was around 6:00 a.m. when emergency services arrived at the restaurant at Kilometer 11 of Boulevard Kukulcán.
Under a section of the restaurant overlook extension is where they found a man identified as 32-year-old Carlos Enrique “P”. He became wedged among the boards under the extension while trying to flee a 2.5 meter long crocodile. Firemen proceeded to break open a part of the restaurant’s floorboards from the inside to lift him out.
Not far away the crocodile was seen resting on a piece of old concrete dock. It is not clear why the man was in the lagoon.
Carlos Enrique “P” was treated for minor abrasions at the scene before being handed over to local authorities. Carols Enrique “P” was arrested and transferred to the Cancun Hotel Zone police station for property damage caused to the restaurant.
